2nd half: Free & Easy in Taichung & Taipei
紧紧张张.. early morning rushed to TS hotel put our luggage, then take THSR to Taichung. wondering why our tour missed out Taichung? becos we decided to go on our own and cover both Sun Moon Lake and Alishan! like that we can cover all of the attractions =D
Our first ride on the high speed railway a.k.a. bullet train
This is not the maximum speed yet. And they even have stewardess on the train.
We got this big nice room at Taichung Holiday Inn really cheap. Only about S$80 per night for a 5-star room.
Somebody can’t resist taking pictures of the room. Hee..
Taichung Park is just situated beside our hotel, so went for some photo-taking before we started hunting for Tai Yang Bing to buy back for our family.
One purpose of our trip to Taichung is to visit Sun Moon Lake which is situated in Nantou, where we have to reach by a 2hr express bus. We reached in time to meet the lake cruise’s timing bringing us to many attractions around the lake.
One of the temple surrounding the lake, but we didn’t actually went to the temple itself because we have to climb a very long flight of steps. End up satisfy ourselves with this 茶叶蛋with a super long queue
Came to another point around the lake, Ita Shao, an aboriginal village belonging to the Shao tribe. Wild boar sausage taste much nicer than the normal Taiwanese sausage we usually have, and tried some 小米酒. Very sweet taste and strong alcoholic content, but it’s nice =)
Wild boar crepe and aboriginal girl in tribal costume.
Saw this boat moored at the port, perhaps the villagers still use this when they get married? Looks interesting, very unusual from the mercs we always see in Singapore
Upon the end of the cruise realli 紧紧张张, we actuallie have to meet a very tight schedule of making it to Wen Wu Temple before it closes, and making it back to take the last bus back to Taichung. This temple is built in honour of Confucious (文) and Guan Gong (武), popular with people who wish to pray for excel in their studies.
The sun is setting… captured the sunset over the lake..
Had to brisk walk a long way to catch the last bus back, luckily we met a very friendly bus uncle who passed by us halfway and fetched us to the bus stop
We had to stay a night in Taichung, just because we want to visit the famous Feng Jia Night Market! It’s a shopping and food haven as proven by the crowd. Queued at least 30mins for this 大肠包小肠, but we didn’t really know how to appreciate the taste of it. Haha.
